They are arboreal, spending the majority of their time in trees and feeding on insects, small animals, and birds. The yellow tree monitor is distinguished by its bright yellow colouring with black patches, which allows it to blend in with the dappled sunlight in the forest canopy. They are popular in the pet trade, however they are considered fragile due to habitat loss and overcollection for the pet trade.
