Bredl’s Carpet Python

Description

Bredl’s Carpet Python are moderately strong constrictor-type snakes with a broad base of the head, distinct neck, vertical pupils, and heat pits on the lips. They are also known as Bredl’s carpet pythons or Centralian carpet pythons. With a cream-colored pattern of dark-edged bands, dots, and blotches, the coloring ranges from brown to reddish. The lips have dark transverse stripes and pale lips. With darker patterns, the belly is light cream or yellowish. Average length is 6.5-7’/ 2-2.2m, however 8’/ 2.4m+ is not unheard of.

Bredl’s pythons can be found around Alice Springs in Australia’s southern Northern Territory. Their natural habitat consists of dry forest, rocky gorges, or shrubland. These snakes have been observed spending time on the ground and in trees, as well as being active at all hours of the day and night.
