The males are green with yellow and/or whitish stripes, and females are fully dark green. Males can grow to a maximum length of 34 centimetres , and females to 17 centimetres . There is a projection on the tip of the snout which is larger in males than in females.

Furcifer antimena is found in southwest Madagascar, specifically between 5 and 80 meters above sea level, primarily in the Antsokay, Toliara, and Ankotapiky areas. It is thought to occur over a 6,310 square kilometer area; the Onilahy and Mangoky rivers appear to be natural bounds to the range of this species. The International Union for Conservation of Nature classified ”Furcifer antimena” as a Vulnerable species because it is found in an area where there is major clearance of the forest for agriculture and charcoal manufacturing, and its population is thought to be diminishing.
