Description

Crocodile monitors are big Southeast Asian arboreal (or tree-dwelling) lizards. Their bodies are blackish-green with varying patterns of bright yellow dots and stripes. Their coloring varies by region. These monitors can defend themselves by whipping their long, strong tails. They also use their flat, razor-sharp, serrated teeth to defend themselves and catch prey. where to buy a Crocodile Monitor

Although male monitor lizards have slight hemipenal bulges and larger, wider heads than female monitor lizards, it can be challenging to distinguish between the sexes based just on appearance. Instead, researchers look at blood hormone levels. The testosterone level in a male crocodile monitor is ten times higher than in a female.

They can grow to a total length of more than 8 feet (2.4 meters), with the tail accounting for up to two-thirds of this length, and weigh up to 44 pounds (20 kilograms). Where to buy a Crocodile Monitor

Although little is known about crocodile monitors’ natural diets, scientists think they eat fish, birds, and mammals. Eggs, tiny reptiles, and carrion may also occasionally be consumed by them. The crocodile monitor at the Smithsonian National Zoo eats chicks, quail, mice, and small rats.

Since they are often solitary animals, crocodile monitors can be aggressive toward other people, especially those who are their own sex. However, some monitors kept by people will bond in pairs and can live together. where to buy a Crocodile Monitor
