Description

Red Tailed Green Ratsnake. Gonyosoma oxycephalum is a species of snake in the Colubridae family. It is sometimes referred to as the arboreal ratsnake, the red-tailed green ratsnake, and the red-tailed racer. Southeast Asia is the species’ only known home.

The non-venomous Ratsnake is a large, powerful snake with smooth, wide scales on its belly that are perfect for climbing trees and slicing through branches. On its back, it has smaller, smoother scales that are normally brilliant green or pale green and occasionally have a black pattern like a net. Although it is typically brown, this snake has a green body and a red tail, as some of its common names suggest.

The “Gold” Red Tailed Green Ratsnake for sale spends its entire life in and around tree cavities. They hardly ever go down to the earth. They like to spend time alone and are active during the day. Stress can cause red-tailed green ratsnakes to inflate a balloon of air in their neck, giving the appearance that they are larger than they actually are.

Red-tailed green ratsnakes are carnivores. They feed almost exclusively on birds, bird eggs, lizards, and bats which they catch in mid-air while hanging amongst branches.
